Professional Rug Cleaning

Our 8-Step Rug
Cleaning Process

A careful, fiber-appropriate process designed to remove soil, protect delicate dyes, and help your rugs look their best.

Request Rug Cleaning

Fine rugs should never be cleaned like ordinary wall-to-wall carpet. Our professional rug cleaning process is designed to clean rugs thoroughly while respecting the fibers, dyes, construction, and condition of each individual rug.

Every rug is different. Wool, silk, synthetic fibers, hand-knotted construction, tufted construction, fringe, dye stability, pet urine, moth damage, and heavy soil can all affect how a rug should be cleaned.

That is why Prestige Carpet Care uses a careful step-by-step rug cleaning process rather than a rushed, one-size-fits-all approach.

  1. Pre-Inspection & Pick-Up
We determine as much as possible about the rug type, fiber content, construction, and any inherent qualities that may affect the cleaning results. We also outline the expected cleaning outcome. We can pick up your rug from your home, with discounts available when rugs are rolled and ready. If you prefer to drop your rug off, we can work that into our schedule.
  2. Dry Soil Removal
Before washing, we remove dry soil from the rug. This is one of the most important steps in professional rug cleaning. We use a variety of tools and techniques to properly dust the rug from front to back, including our Wolverine Rug Duster and specialty vacuum attachments.
  3. Pre-Condition
Depending on the fiber content and type of soiling, the rug is pre-treated to help loosen and emulsify soil before washing.
  4. Pre-Spot & Fringe Preparation
Difficult spots are treated with specialty solutions to improve the chances of removal. Fringe areas are also treated to help achieve the best possible cleaning result.
  5. Wash
The rug is cleaned gently and thoroughly using appropriate cleaning procedures, equipment, and rug washing solutions. Our process is designed to clean effectively while helping prevent cross-contamination and dye transfer concerns.
  6. Rinse
Proper rinsing helps remove soil, contaminants, and cleaning residues from the rug. Our equipment is highly effective at removing moisture quickly and is especially valuable when rugs have urine or other contamination concerns.
  7. Dry & Finish
After cleaning, the rug is hung on our drying rack in a controlled environment. Once completely dry, it is groomed and finished with soft tools made for specialty rugs.
  8. Post Inspection & Delivery
We give your rug a final inspection and prepare it for delivery. Your rug is wrapped to help protect it from dust and environmental soil until it is delivered. Upon delivery, we can lay the rug back in place for you.

Premium fiber protection is highly recommended after professional rug cleaning. We use Fiber ProTector America, an industry-respected premium protection system for fine rugs, upholstery, and textiles.
