It’s cleaning day, and Prestige Carpet Care looks forward to serving you.
To help us provide the best results possible, here are a few simple things you can do before your appointment.
1. Protect Valuables and Breakables
Please remove breakable items from tables and shelves, including lamps, picture frames, vases, decorations, and fragile items.
If you have full-length draperies or bed skirts touching the floor, we recommend pinning them up so they have at least six inches of clearance from the carpet.
Dusting your baseboards before the appointment is a great idea. This helps reduce dust becoming airborne and settling back onto freshly cleaned carpet.
2. Make Sure Floors Are Clear
Prestige recommends thoroughly vacuuming before your appointment to prepare the carpet for deep cleaning.
If possible, please remove small items from the floor before we arrive, including:
- Small tables
- Plants
- Magazine racks
- Small chairs
- Toys and books
- Other loose items that may interfere with cleaning
This helps the cleaning process move more efficiently and allows better access to the carpet.
3. Make Arrangements for Pets
It’s usually best to keep pets safely outside, in the yard, or in a room that is not being cleaned.
Cleaning equipment can be noisy, and exterior doors may need to remain slightly open while hoses are connected to truck-mounted equipment.
4. Keep a Parking Space Open
Prestige uses powerful truck-mounted equipment, so we ask that you leave a parking space available near your home’s main entrance whenever possible.
The closer the van is to the entry door, the better the equipment performs and the easier the setup process becomes.
If our van may temporarily block your driveway, you may want to move your vehicle before the appointment begins.
5. Point Out Areas of Concern
During our initial walk-through, please point out:
- Heavy traffic lanes
- Spots or stains needing extra attention
- Pet accident areas
- Fragile or delicate furniture
- Loose furniture legs or unstable tables
You know your home best, and this helps ensure important areas receive the attention they need.
6. Prepare for Drying Time
Carpet requires drying time after professional cleaning. Depending on humidity and airflow, drying can take anywhere from approximately 2–8 hours.
For best results after cleaning:
- Leave protective tabs and blocks under furniture legs for 48 hours
- Avoid walking on damp carpet whenever possible
- Open windows if weather permits
- Run fans, air conditioning, or heating systems to increase airflow
- Keep children and pets off damp carpet until fully dry
- Use caution walking from damp carpet onto hard surfaces
Good airflow is one of the most important factors in reducing carpet drying time.
That’s All!
